Verona Introduction

Verona is a city in the northern part of Italy brimming with rich history and culture. From the amphitheatre, or Arena, to Shakespeare's famous Romeo & Juliet origin, Verona has a lot of historic sights. In the center of the plaza, there are countless number of shops and restaurants.

Amphitheatre

The Roman Amphitheatre or Arena is an iconic building in Verona. It was used originally to host the Roman gladiator games and is now used for opera performances. This amazing structure is still standing today. Sometimes, concerts and plays would be performed inside.

Statue of Juliet

This is another iconic piece to Verona. The statue of Juliet originates from Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet." The statue is built with bronze. Myth has it if you rub your hand on her breast, then it brings good luck in love. Juliet's balcony is also located here. You can go up to the balcony where you can get Juliet's perspective.

Plaza/Shopping

Walking two blocks from the Amphitheatre, you will find the plaza. The plaza has many stands that sell souvenirs and in walking distance, there were restaurants with outdoor seating. There were also street performers which was interesting. Souvenirs here are a steal! I bought a metal-framed sunglass for only 5 euro ($5.50). It was my first time trying aperol spritz here! Aperol spritz is a cocktail mix of Prosecco, club soda and orange juice.

My Experience

I like Verona. It has great culture and delicious food. The gelato here tasted amazing. The only thing I dislike is the amount of people. Waiting in line going to Juliet's balcony took almost 30 minutes which I don't think was worth it. Aside from that, from the drinks to the culture, it was a nice visit!
